I am surprised that knowing that, you still believe in such things, especially considering things like DMT and how stuff like near death experiences can be attributed to it like crazy hyper-lucid dreams. Stands to reason that such things are a trip as opposed to "going to the other side" or whatnot.

problem goes to the parents (usually lack of parenting)

my scenario tho

Bought a house that previously had 2 teens living there.
Soon after I moved in, on Fri or Sat nights, get a ding and dash.
Next weekend rolls around, again with it.
So third weekend I went out and warned em without getting all up in their face.

Few months pass no ding and dash...

Then... DING!

My first though was just following the plan I made in my head. Installed wireless cam about 9ft high and above front door.

No more ding.

Also this summer for the bored teens, I'm putting up a flood light and another cam near garage for when they decide to play some sort of new age hide and seek game.

Sadly, it's better to not even approach kids or teens without proof, and then just take it to the police or parents. Police only if there is any damage which hopefully won't happen.

My property sadly has the biggest front lawn in the area with a dark area by a fence line to boot.

Do you actually legitimately believe the ridiculous things or do you just accept them as they are part of your religion, whether by choice/loyalty to said religion or by a sense of obligation to said religion?

This is where things get a bit odd for me. While I believe that Jesus was the son of God who was sent to die for mankinds sins, I find it hard to believe that someone could multiply food, walk on water, or rise from the dead, which is pretty hypocritical considering that the offspring of an omnipotent being should probably be able to pull off any magic trick in the book, right? So I guess I believe less in what he did (besides, of course the most important thing of dying on the cross) as much as his teachings. But in regards to believing in said acts, its more out of obligation.

That seems moderately reasonable. While I don't disagree with much of his teachings, on a basic level I write them off as common sense. I'm not going to view a character as some prophet or messiah just because they preach don't be an asshole to other :P. As for the dude himself, I don't see him as a historical figure but a sort of amalgamation of ideals, a mythological archetype if you will, along the same lines as Hercules or Gilgamesh or someone like that. His "miracles" and stuff, to me, are sort of fables that have been made larger than life but probably have some basis in reality but as much more... well... realistic acts and performed by different people, just collectively attributed to one person for the sake of the table. So essentially, things like water to wine, curing blind people etc. are probably metaphorical.

Personally, I would never be willing to believe anything simply due to a sense of obligation. As a concept that is very off-putting. I'm stubborn as fuck though and also pretty distrusting, as well as individualistic. Any belief system I may have is pretty much guaranteed to oriented on my own perception and experiences, rather than the other way around. That's not to say there has never been anyone or anything that has influenced me. It's just that my own perception is precursory to influence, so outside influences that I take on board involve that which would already make sense to me prior to whatever knowledge, revelation or experience sparked the influence.

But all three of us were talking about religion, just in different ways. You were asking if I really believed in it, and he was just bashing it, while I was defending it because his points on it were objectively wrong.

When he said things like "You shouldn't do a bad thing because someone might punish you if you do!", "You shouldn't disobey me because then God will torture you in hell when you die.", "More religious logic to prove my point. "I don't like what you say so stop talking about it!", "Oppostion to climate change, evolution, sciences.", or "Support of war.", it just proves how little he understands Christianity. So we had a little back and forth about that, which is the literal definition of an argument ("an exchange of diverging or opposite views, typically a heated or angry one." or "a reason or set of reasons given with the aim of persuading others that an action or idea is right or wrong.")

Although he did conveniently stop talking about it when he was told that only he could turn this into a topic about religion lol.

The problem was that his points were just flat out incorrect, especially his "You shouldn't disobey me because then God will torture you in hell when you die." one. And he went on with his opposition to religious thinking, which filled out the definition of an argument.

And his odd statement of "I don't like what you say so stop talking about it!"? I have no clue where he got that from. He honestly has no clue about Christianity, so I told him to stop talking about it like he did. When he said "People by the billions are raised all over the world and have been for centuries that if they do wrong, they will suffer. If they do good, they will be rewarded.", that is true (although billions might be an exaggeration). But that isn't the Christian belief, which is why I told him to stop speaking for Christianity, as that's not its teachings.

In short, he started talking about how he doesn't like religious thinking, and I was talking about how he was wrong because not all religions think that way. But then he said that the religion that I know did do that, even though he doesn't know much, if anything about it apparently.

And of course, there's the fact that he just flat out lied about not bringing up religion here. I really want to see what he says about that.
