I think it had the second best atmosphere of the series after Vice City. I loved worked with the dark underworld of Liberty City. I remember playing the mission where you first go to Algonquin and being so excited about getting there and exploring it.

Too bad they scaled back too much and left the game more bare bones (although I still love it). IV gets so much flack for it's gameplay that it's great setting, characters, story, and atmosphere get practically ignored.

GTA VIce City, and San Andreas were better games that came before GTA bore which was good for graphics and physics but sucked ass at everything else.

GTA V was a huge step up from the depressing shithole that is liberty city, after fun exciting VC and SA where they went with 4 was a step in the wrong direction.

Its other huge flaw is that it was just endless city, no forests, no nature, no variety at all except high end city, low end city, ghetto as fuck city.

GTA IVs reign as current GTA felt a lot longer then any other GTA because it was so bad, those 5 years felt like forever in a bad way, for GTA V it feels like wow its actually been 5 years ?! the game still feels only 2-3 years old but is still so much fun to play.
