It's not really creepy as others have said, it's just a suppressed laughter. As if you're not able to hide your joy.

There are a lot more onomatopoeia for laughing in Japanese btw. For example,

Romanisation isn't the most accurate thing really :/ if every written language had a purely phonemic orthography English would look completely different.

Anyway, onomatopoeia obviously works differently in different languages. Like, for example, you have "woof" in English, (wan) in Japanese and "guau" in Spanish but they're all meant to represent the exact same sound, which is the bark of a dog.

Japanese has a bunch of onomatopoeia that don't make sense for me at all like (kuyokuyo) is the onomatopoeia for "worrying about the past or trivial things." But eh, I love the language anyway >_>
