Actually, the Armor Wars II collection I have, which starts with issue 258 in 1990, has suits that look like, suits, not extremely muscular men. But it was a thing for a very long time. The Demon in a Bottle collection I have, which starts with issue 120, all feature ripped Iron Man. As does Armor Wars, issues 225 to 232. So somewhere between 232 and 258 they realised this made no sense.

Funny thing about the 90s was that multiple heroes suddenly got metallic suits.
Batman, Captain America, heck, even Daredevil got one!

Pre-cyber era Ironman is hilarious

Reading the original Secret Wars is kinda cringey now because Rhodey is secretly in the suit instead of Tony and all his dialogue ends with him saying stereotypical black stuff of the era like brotha or sucka

Speaking about Iron Man in the 90s, remember when the big bad used Tonys own suits to brainwash him into becoming evil, and the rest of the Avengers used a timemachine to go to another dimension and kidna... recruited a teenage Tony, who replaced old Tony when old Tony decided to take his own life?

Yeah, the yellow parts of the old suits were mostly portrayed as some kind of "flexible iron fabric" that he slipped on like sleeves.
