This. Anyone that says this with any regularity (you know who you are) are not reasonable to deal with and typically petty, awful people and the entire reason that service people get burnt out/might give someone a palm off or runaround in the first place. If you're thinking "but when I do it it's entirely reasonable", no this goes double for you-you're your own worst enemy.
The airline did nothing wrong and even handled the resulting PR trash fire in a pretty decent and classy way.
