Currently its at 819 million average box office total. Infinity War and to a much smaller extent black panthers continued legs will bring this up a fair bit and part 2 of infinity War is pretty much an assured well over a billion grosser.

As a general rule the MCU has gradually been trending upwards the longer it goes. There are exceptions of course. The first Avengers of course was Huge, Iron Man 3 is a huge outlier among the earlier/middle, solo films and Age of Ultron had a moderate drop from the first avengers for example. But the solo films with sequels went up each time and the new to the big screen heros have gone up since the start too. Even Ant-Man did more than Hulk, and the first Thor and Captain America movies(didnt beat Iron man though...Black Panther, Doctor Strange and GOTG did though)

I think it will hit it possibly before Avengers 5, definitely once avengers 5 finishes its box office run.

There are actually terrible movies coming out all the time, why are Marvel movies so offensive just because you find them mediocre?

I never said I hated them, just why some people could. I think that they're mediocre. And again it's the inundation to them. Not even seeing them, but when a new one comes out you hear about it constantly. Friends asking me.to go see it or talk about it, all the communities I frequent online going nuts over "leaked" set images, losing their minds over spoilers and trying to spoil things for others, movie podcasts and YouTube channels I watch spending time doing frame by frame breakdowns of teaser trailers and shit.

It's just easy for that mediocrity to become annoying when you have to hear about it constantly. And they're up to what, 3 MCU movies a year, 2-3 MCU shows, now they own Fox again too so more of those, plus DC's shit.
It's everywhere and has been for years despite mostly being mediocre stuff and summer popcorn flicks that people treat like a huge deal.

Like my Nickelback comparison, I don't have them, they're just another mediocre rock band. But when you're surrounded by the shit it becomes annoying and it's understandable why some people would start hating at that point.

Don't know why people are getting so upset over such a basic and reasonable opinion.

Hell I'd argue that as far as blockbusters go, MCU movies are far better than the kind of crap we got while I was growing up. Blockbuster used to be synonymous with "shitty summer action movie that makes a ton of money". At least now they're watchable at worst and can be surprisingly great at times.

When something becomes unavoidable that you're not interested in it can become annoying, that's not really a weird thing, that's what happens with most people. The annoyance usually comes with the inundation that comes with a new one upcoming, which is pretty much just a few more than apart at this point.

And I agree, summer blockbusters have always been mediocre mostly and people were accepting of that fact. But with the MCU suddenly that becomes an issue and people try to overrate them beyond reason.

the MCU isn't great, there's a load of mediocrity in the franchise (although phase 3 really only has one misstep as far as I'm concerned, so they are getting better) but they're a lot more watchable than most of the blockbusters we used to have
