I think at this point I've read or listened to all. The good ones(two exceptions, Misery and Green Mile, which I'm saving for now), but there are a ton that either don't get the recognition they deserve, or are just looked over entirely.

I've only read six King books I believe, but I also only started reading again last year. Will definitely be reading more in the future.

Maybe do "stories", as many are short and contained within other books together.

A lot of fun, and satisfying throughout until the ending, but don't let that deter you from enjoying an amazing journey.

I might do his shirt stories but that'll be a different list. Partly because it's a different medium, partly because it's a lot more work, and partly because I haven't read nearly all of them.

Not really. He gets a lot of shit for that but he really only has a couple books with bad endings, and he also has a few with amazing ones.

The Dark Half is interesting for something different. The Talisman and Dark House. Different Seasons which has the story The Body which is the movie Stand by Me. It also has a super underrated story called Apt Pupil. Bag of Bones. Skeleton Crew is another great story collection. I also love Needful Things. I could go on and on. I love Stephen King and have read just about everything by him.

I never finished it sadly. Personal favorite is almost certainly IT, but top 5 would be hard. Christine, The Stand, Black House, Needful Things would be my off the top of my head list for the other four right now but it's constantly in Flux.

I disagree. I enjoyed the ending. He was obviously foreshadowing it the whole book. It didn't feel like he ran out of space in his brain and came up with the first thing he thought up.

That's just me, though.

Just realized I got autocorrect above to Dark House and cant fix it. Black house.

Also, Misery is freaking epic. Eyes of the Dragon is one of his most obscure but I really like it.

IIRC he considers Dreamcatcher his worst and I agree, but that's excusable. I actually thought Rose Madder was kinda good, weird but interesting.

What are your thoughts on the Dark Tower? I'm into fantasy, but I never gave it much thought because for some reason I had a kneejerk reaction against Stephen King. But I've heard a fair amount of praise for it lately. Would you recommend?

Those were my first books I read by King. I enjoyed them immensely and it is not at all what you think it is.

The first book is slow, but it really kicks off in the second when he goes through the door.

Which sucks because two of my favorite phrases came from that book (I agree it was arguably his worst though):

No bounce, no play.

And SSDD.

for the aliens, it was kinda outta the blue, although slightly alluded to.

It's more the shame aspect, and begging aspect that is more prevalent. You have Barbie always thinking back to the time he was ashamed in Iraq. You have Sanders and the other council woman, Andrea, who are ashamed of their life, and their drug problem respectively. You constantly have people begging to get out of the situation they're in (Angie at the beginning when she's killed by Junior, the girl who's raped and has the kid with Phil Bushy, etc etc etc).

Throughout the novel, it seems like a massive theme, to be ashamed and to beg that the ending made sense. Once again, it did to me atleast. I've also read the damn book like 5 times, so it was easier to pick up on during the second and third readings.
