Im sure Im not the first to suggest this, and for all I know its a no-brainer (good writing keeps everybody on one page, after all), but I think the reason Strange gave up the stone was because he foresaw the only successful outcome included Tony being the one to defeat Thanos and/or bring back all of the people he destroyed. And perhaps he didnt know all of the steps necessary to get to that, which is why they first tried (and nearly succeeded) to remove the Gauntlet (FUCKING QUILL).

Also, super into the fact that the next Avengers will probably basically be the original six with a few smaller others (Rocket, Okoye, maybe Ant Man), and probably Capn Marvel too. Let things end where they began.

He had to have broken the rule. Thanos confirmed that by using it to take Visions stone, probably specifically to circumvent any theories of a fake.

Right, which would make it nonsensical for him to give up the stone to save Tony's life...unless he knew that it would ultimately lead to their victory.

No, he said the endgame thing after, implying that giving up the stone was part of the correct path.

He said that he wouldn't save them over the stone before he saw the paths, implying that he only gave up the stone because the paths he saw influenced him to.

The movie basically explicitly states that Dr. Strange only gave up the stone to stay on the correct path

The real question is, why would the right path have him give up the stone?
Perhaps making it easy for Thanos to wipe out half the universe, fresh after sacrificing Gamora, changes Thanos's perspective in the long run, who knows

Probably cause Strange knew Captain Marvel would be alerted if Thanos was winning. Shes pretty strong iirc and will be kept strong in the MCU iirc.

Not to mention the possibilities of Ant-Man characters joining the fray.

I'm pretty sure Adam Warlock will probably play some kind of role in part 2.

If I had to guess, he'll show up in Captain Marvel since the guy who played the Kree villain is also in that movie

Hmm, I have no idea who those people are. Captain Marvels gonna be brand new for me

I don't read the comics, but Adam has already been introduced in the MCU. at the end of guardians 2

Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s and Adam Warlock wasn't created until the end of Guardians vol 2, which was set 20 years later, so doubt he's going to be in captain marvel. Maybe the after credits scenes, one with captain marvel receiving the message from Fury, and a 2nd scene with Warlock.
