if anything it's a really dumb demand because the recommendation would be something like "eradicate racism that exists among cops." or "eradicate racism in general," as cops are just a reflection of US society. obviously trump can't do that.

i guess the most realistic requests for trump would be "stop setting a bad example for cops by saying racist stuff" and "stop defending the cops," but those wouldn't be much of a solution either. at best they would be incredibly small steps in the right direction.

Im getting near the exp level you guys were at when you stopped using duolingo. Did you guys make any progress with your languages after you stopped?

I guess what Im asking is did you outgrown Duolingo or burn out on duolingo (and language learning)

That's not going to change anything. Anyone who doesn't hate the protesters knows that it's specifically about police shooting innocent people and getting away with it, and with the specific action of NFL players kneeling during the anthem. That is why it has lasted so much longer than Occupy. It's so narrow that it can't be misdirected or turn into activist tourism.

The anti-protester propaganda you're talking about has already been well established against the haters, so there is no "exposing". Besides, anyone can easily answer something super easy like "pardon all non-violent drug offenses", which is the answer you have gotten here already, and then the ball in back in Trump's court with the original protest still going on undistracted.

All this does is acknowledge the protesting as legitimate and that it can be used as SOME form of benefit, even if the currently offered benefits are misguided. It is saying very explicitly: keep protesting, it's working.

Duolingo is for extreme beginner level learning only. It barely teaches grammar at all (unless you're in a well established language which has a lot of text descriptions written). For me I used it to get used to reading and basic vocab.

After that I moved onto various youtube series and blog posts, where you can find beginner and intermediate grammar lessons, but more importantly you can get deep dives into a very specific grammatical nuances that let you actually understand the real language.

Then after you have that intermediate grammatical foundation, you can focus on fleshing out vocabulary again using a flash card system (I use memrise) and also native material (shows, etc). The grammatical foundation will let you realize when you understand the structure of a sentence, which is fine even if you don't know all the words because you can just look them up and add them to your vocab list. But most importantly you can recognize when you understand the words but NOT the structure, which is something you should go look for a specific blog post about. And so on you learn grammar and vocab back and forth and you continue this for the rest of your life pretty much.

Yeah the fact that cops can get away with. If cops were punished for shooting innocent people this specific protest wouldn't exist.

And Trump CAN make a unilateral change there, by demanding the executive prosecute their agents in these cases. The larger issue of a racist justice system is a broader social issue so Trump can't really do any magic there (although that would be admitting his general impotence which he and his supporters would never do). But with the cops in particular, he can.

So judging by everyone else's experience I should expect another few months of using it, max.

It's just another one of Valve's intensely vague policies that everyone is projecting their own fears (and wishes) on. Which is totally Valve's fault and probably their intention. But what will the actual policy be like? No one really knows, except by looking at history. Where we see Valve banning VNs and being really inconsistent and weird.

I wish more people would get to the core of the issue that is that Steam is so big and influential that any slight changes (let alone big changes) it makes have real and wide-reaching effects on the industry. I like this announcement overall because it is tending toward this idea that Steam doesn't have to be THE games distributor anymore. My standards for sandbox games are usually really freaking low, but this one still managed to disappoint. 1 was more repetitive, but also more fun. 2 is just awful. Driving controls are awful. Shooting controls are awful. Missions are completely uninspired.

Like pretty much every "refugee" ship, these are almost entirely military aged males looking to take advantage of the European welfare system. They've either abandoned their families, or will send whatever income they make in Europe back home to Africa.

And note that even the mainstream press is readily admitting that these refugees are from Africa. Not Syria. Not Yemen. Not any active warzone.
