I used to see dandelions, honeybees, fireflies, and red squirrels in the 80s and 90s.

Very few dandelions now.

I actually saw a honeybee in my yard last year.

Fireflies? Can't remember the last time I saw them.

I haven't seen a red squirrel in over a decade and a half.

I wish dandelions would stop growing in my yard

I have honeybees every year, is there anything on your property that makes it worth their time to visit? They practically live at my thyme bush.

I see Fireflies regularly.

Never seen a Red Squirrel.

So the planet is only 25% dead where I live

I bet this extinction period is the only one where a certain species was virtually entirely responsible. Everything else was a natural catastrophe (note:I've only read part of that article so far)

If honeybees go extinct it'll be a huge problem for the ecosystem. They're the main pollinators of the food we eat. IIRC, it's something like bees pollinate 80% of our flowering crops which makes up about a third of what we eat. This also extends to our livestock since what they get fed is also pollinated by bees.

Yes, I'm sure the Earth will never recover from the carbon footprint of a species that hasn't been here for more than five seconds when taking billions of years into account wherein the planet was frozen over and boiled over multiple times and was home to dominant species long before we ever were.

The planet isn't dying. No, if anything, we are dying and we should be worried about our future, not the planet's.

Before this fishing season began there were only 12 individuals left. Totoaba farming would have saved it years ago, however now it's suspected to be succumbing to inbreeding depression.

That's what happens when you treat poaching as an enforcement issue, instead of a market failure.
All bans and raids accomplish is making poaching more lucrative.
