Never, but everyone has to admit that the 80s was a fantastic decade for music.

ETA: Except for Butterfiles, apparently.

You can find good and bad stuff rom any era, so I guess the question is more when did the bad stuff start topping the charts. I guess I'd say around 2003-ish.

There was always good and bad popular music. It's just that the bad popular music is forgotten throughout time, plus the existence of the internet exposes us more to bad music.

Radio station music isn't good. There's still good music being made it's just not played on public radio.

I say around the mid 2000's. Of course there's always been terrible music, but it's obvious that it's gotten worse over time. I mean, I can listen to vapid pop music like disco and hair metal, but a lot of popular music today is straight obnoxious. It's obviously gotten more formulaic and sterile and most of it seems like it was written by a committee or a computer program or something.

This is not far from the truth. All pop music is written by the same 3 guys. They use formulaic methods to write the melody. Lyrics don't really matter so that's how you end up with shit like Single Ladies lyrics.

They didn't debut until after the 90s unless you count Kara's Flowes and that doesn't count. Check your facts next time.
