Like a coworker will come up, start telling me a personal life story and I just tune out the moment it gets boring. I need something funny or dramatic to muster up enough fucks to continue the convo.

Like yesterday I went to lunch with a coworker, and she was telling me about how she finally started seeing a guy and my reaction was just a blank stare and "I'm happy for you" and she talked about how they hung out for hours last weekend.

Maybe I'm just apathetic for anything that isn't video games, food, funny, dramatic, or tech related. Or related directly to me

Just keep up the act. Learn their facial expressions and attempt to mimic them at the correct times. Humans are very social creatures and may begin to suspect you if you don't react appropriately and naturally to their bizarre social cues.

I guess I care about some things, but I hear enough stories helping people at the counter that I really don't want to hear about minor things. Like I'm sure nobody would care where I went for dinner, or who I was hanging out with yesterday unless I made it relevant to them

I feel you man. I can't find myself to care about anything really. I still get good marks in school and such but I get bored easily with everything and can't care.

This is gonna sound really shitty but an acquaintance told me that she was suicidal and tried killing herself the other day and I honestly couldn't care. I gave her my support but deeply I just didn't care.

Nah TC I feel the same way a lot of times. I'm pretty sure it's normal. I only care when the person is someone I already care about, like a crush or maybe my best friend. If it's a co-worker or just a casual friend or stranger, I usually won't care unless it's something I went through with them, or if it's something I can relate to, which might trigger an emotional response from me. But yeah, usually I'm the same as you. I'll pretend to care and try to say the appropriate things ("That's awesome," or "I'm sorry to hear that"), but deep down, I'm just thinking "Whatevs."

Edit: I must be really good at pretending to be empathetic, too. Because people seem to gravitate to me when they have something they want to vent about. All the time people tell me about things that I really would have rather not known about, followed by "That's the first time I've ever told anyone about that." And I'm just sitting there thinking "Fuck, why me?"

If youre a straight guy thats the norm so...not sure what the deal is.
