Is that $1681 in fees? Because I don't know how you spend money at an ATM.

I gotta ask, do bank tellers care that much about you going around looking for interesting currency? Is it annoying for them, or just sort of interesting?

I don't think they care. But I think they might know that you probably won't find anything too interesting. Maybe...

they probably think its interesting, and you can do some annoying things with it but be respectful and you're fine.

they dont have to count bills individually or coins usually. cash in a hundred dollars in coins, who cares? it has to be rolled beforehand though. they will likely not count out loose change for deposit unless they have a coin machine in back. Otherwise its just the literal job of a bank teller. the ATM makes bills very easy. I deposit my ones back into the ATM in stacks of 50 at a time, so i dont annoy them. even so they'd throw em into a bill counter and have a total in 30 seconds.

what NOT to do:

demand. if your bank aint giving you boxes of halves(because you pay face, they pay $10 shipping), they arent doing it. you cant demand these things.

ive heard its bad to take your coins back to the same bank branch. this could get tiresome for the employees waiting on you to exchange large quantities of coins all the time. most currency hunters are members of several banking institutions, and visit multiple branches within them for use. also you dont want to risk getting the same coins back, if youve determined they are only worth face value. however if they have a customer use coin counter its fine.

dont be the guy who gets a roll of halves, checks it in the lobby and returns if 30 seconds later because none are silver

Now, its good to treat these people with respect and become a regular and show yourself to be nice and courteous...they might even help you out. but also you know hunting currency is almost entirely free, so dont act like youre entitled to anything.

but i honestly do most of my transactions bill hunting through the atm. once in a while ill go in and get 500 or so in ones(which all they do is take out five bricks from their lock box), but i generally dont annoy them too much.

the easiest way to find silver coins are to ask em for half dollars. i dont do this too often because i just dont like annoying them, even if its a basic function of their job.

Not really. its probably an odd request but there are legit reasons for it.

even if they did i would not care.
