I don't understand why the police actually took them into custody.

The cops did the right thing, but the cops shouldn't have been called in the first place if the manager hadn't targeted the men specifically, so idk.

how did the police do the right thing? did the police ask them to leave first before arresting them?

It's a grey line for me.

The men probably could have dealt with the police better, but they shouldn't have had the police called on them in the first place.

So I don't really think it's "right", but I'm just more upset with how the Starbucks manager chose to handle it.

I've been pulled over by a cop and it was OBVIOUS I had been smoking weed... let off with a warning.

Two black guys wait quietly (the white guy and girl probably wouldn't haven't been saying they hadn't even done anything if they were being obnoxious) in a starbucks and not only do they get flexed on by about 6 police officers, they also quietly and calmly go with the police after being wrongly arrested (instead of being let off with a simple warning, or hell the cops telling the starbucks manager to fuck off for wasting their god damn time).

I think theres a fucking problem in this country if people honestly think there is "more to the story" in this situation.

Dunno but she no longer works there and yes I've heard most people saying it was a she.

It's pretty much solely the managers fault.

The cops did the right thing. The cops asked them to leave (because the manager was an asshole, I don't think she actually asked them herself first) and they refused to leave. Then they got arrested.

So the cops were put in a shitty situation by the manager but reacted appropriately according to their job.

Its not that they refused to leave, they said they were waiting for a friend, who walked in and then they were arrested.

It was too late, the manager already told the called the cops and asked them to remove them from the store. If they didn't leave of their own accord at this point, the cops did what they had to do.

The manager (racist or not, though I suspect she was prejudice) is the sole reason for this fiasco.

Because they refused to leave when management told them to.

This makes the arrest correct. I don't necessarily think it should have gotten to that point, but they did refuse to leave.

Could be a small town Kansas thing, but even a ST has let me off before, (nothing illegal in the vehicle) for going about 15 over the speed limit. I've been let off to go home after scuffles with "neighborhood watch" individuals, drunk as hell told to "walk home". I'm just saying I definitely feel my privilege as a white man.

I have, what I'm saying is my interactions with cops have been disproportionate to the interactions I've seen with black people, specifically what seems like two guys just minding their business, waiting for the rest of their party before ordering (which would have made the Starbucks more money)

See where I'm going with this? I'm saying it doesn't seem to make much sense to go along with the cops on this particular issue especially when A: we have video of white people literally backing them up saying they did nothing, and B: it was clear these gentlemen were going to order once the rest of their party showed up (which they did when the cops had already arrested them for... literally no reason)
