If you're spending that much on a phone, go with the one with an AMOLED display(X). Why it took so long for Apple to catch up and why everyone settled for less, I do not know.

Apple displays have always been just as crisp as any phone out. Not sure about the specs but from the eye test they were never behind. It was a non issue. Retina displays were nice. Only problem is with the white color iPhone X, the stainless steel rim get a lot of micro scratches even with a case on

Back in 2014, android phones were putting out Quad HD (25601440), some of them in Super AMOLED. The iPhone 8 Plus still sports a 19201080 resolution LCD. The regular 8 is even lower resolution. iPhone displays are okay; I'm not saying they're garbage. They get the job done, but they've been subpar compared to other phones until the X.
