I don't really have a huge problem with a special event like this. Then again, I wouldn't have much of an issue with a white only special event either.

In fact, they're completely unrelated. This is bullshit intersectionality/identity politics 101. And I can literally see the bullshit reasoning you used to get it: "non-white people, therefore black people, therefore civil rights era, therefore racism and white people bad, therefore I'll rationalize it and pretend that it's not bullshit."

I didn't grow up in the 60's, where it was much, MUCH worse, but I've had all manner of shit yelled at me between growing up in Philly and now living in Va...I've been surrounded by direct and indirect shit all my life, and while this article makes me cringe, part of me does also go, maybe, just maybe, it will hit a nerve where white people finally go "OK, we get it, this shit is fucked up, but let's talk about it." and not the other nonsense that is normally the pushback from folks such as yourself - your very point after quoting me is a perfect example of it.

You get outraged about the OP and want someone to listen to your basis for anger, we've been fed up for longer and all we get is "suck it up, race baiters."

None of that is an excuse for discrimination nor should it be used as an attempt to rationalize it. I'm a white person who lived through the Obama era so I also know what discrimination feels like. I still wouldn't support excluding others based on race.
