glad someone remembers. i remember everyone giving me so much shit about going there, about how they would hate me, about how korean girls would never date me (which really was never my intention), and how sad and pathetic it was to go to korea lol.

i dunno. i had a good time for the most part. there was one, major sour point but she can't hurt me anymore.

I remember that too. I'm also black, so I was kinda worried about the same things people were getting on you about.

In the end I think I'm happy I didn't go out there though. I found a steady job right before my mom lost hers. And I would have been teaching in Korea, and I realize now that I would have hated that.

A lot of people call _BIuemonk a loser for going to Korea, but he is doing something with his life that makes him able to go to Korea and live there without the need of a translator. Stop hating on _Bluemonk for knowing how to speak Korean as if it's shameful to learn Asian languages.

yeah i remember my plan was to go back and teach korea. seeing how my life turned out, its good i didn't. even now it comes up and i think "well i go there, i teach, i come back and im right in the same spot i was" so what's the point. plus i dont think i could leave my parents for that long again.

well. my obsession with korean culture never really stopped, but there were dips. in the last year, it had a massive resurgence cuz my students were all getting into kpop and it was a way to connect with them. i even started a kpop club.

i started getting credit cards and learned about churning and getting credit card points. so i thought, where do i want to go? my answer was korea lol. plus, i always told my girlfriend about my adventures in korea so i thought it would be great to bring her there.

i thought i was never go back cuz my last semester there was such shit. i went there for school for a year which i realize now was too long. i missed america, i missed my parents, etc. also, my school was becoming more and more controlling over its foreign students that it became unbearable (my first semester, we lived in apartments with an RA and it was like a typical college life. we partied nearly every night and had a lot of fun; my second semester they stuffed us into a new dorm with all these rules and a fucking 11pm curfew. they also forced us to buy 500 dollar meal plans even though i didn't want to). my heart was broken too and i just remember not being happy that winter semester.
