I've downloaded entire channels using Youtube-DLG. I was getting burned a lot with some of my favorite videos being deleted and gone for good, so now if there's content I like I make sure to back it up.

Yeah, videos just get deleted often, either because of the whim of the uploader or copyright issues. I went through my YouTube bookmarks from like 2015 and 75% of those videos are gone.

I've been thinking about going through and downloading HQ uploads of concert films you can find on YT. Lots of stuff that's 720 or 1080.

Only reason I haven't yet is I failed to find a youtube download extension for FF that will nab 1+ hour 1080p videos the last time I looked for one.

i only save specific videos.

i have over 2000 favorites and it's a pretty big bummer to return from time to time and only see a growing list of removed videos.

Yeah youtube-dl is easily the best downloader.

I download anything with a remote chance of being deleted or privated.

It's not a browser extension but YouTube-DLG can do that.

Yep, it changed my life when I discovered it. I used to download videos individually which was a pain in the ass.

I checked that when I first entered the topic and saw a Windows installer, assumed it was just for Windows.

Now that I look down I see it has Linux builds too, which is perfect. Looks nifty overall.
