It's not worth redesigning to add anti-counterfeiting features like the $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills have received. Efforts to replace the $1 bill with a coin like other countries have done have also completely failed. Finally, it would cost a royal fortune to update the millions of vending machines already in service to accept the new design as nearly all of them would require technicians to go out to each one to update them manually.

American bank notes, when minted, are actually the most colorful and flamboyant looking money in the world. Most people don't notice, however, cause due to the strength of our economy those notes exchange hands so rapidly that all the color becomes faded and stripped away. Few pictures of intact notes even exist because of the classified nature of our currencies production facilities.
