Five for $10, down from $3 each. Was going to grab Spider-Man 2, but the copy there was a bootleg (labelled as a US / Region 1 disc but had Asian / Region 3 languages) so Battle for Terra was filler.

Did they finally include widescreen in that Princess Bride release? The VHS release is that last one I knew of that's widescreen.

That what you wanted? This was the Region 4 2008 Lionsgate release, perhaps there is a similar Region 1 release.

Never heard of battle terra, but 10/10 for the rest of the movies

That what you wanted? This was the Region 4 2008 Lionsgate release, perhaps there is a similar Region 1 release.

What they did for the first 2 DVD releases was take the "standard" aspect ratio and chop off the top and bottom to create a widescreen. The one scene I can think of where it's easy to tell is near the beginning when Buttercup asks Westley to fetch the pitcher. If you can't see the pitcher before he gets it down for her, they're using the chopped off standard ratio and claiming it's the original widescreen.

This one has letter boxing for 4:3 displays, so probably not. Unless they cut it off for everyone. :P

Guess I can watch this film for the first time and let you know if I notice that.

Correcting myself again, the VHS has 4:3. IIRC, the first DVD release has 4:3. The Special Edition (I don't have access to mine right now, so I'm guessing on what it's called) only has the chopped off 4:3. Quite a few people were quite upset about this.

Based on the first one, I think I need to pick up a copy. The pitcher is either barely on screen, or not at all, in the original "widescreen" DVD. So I would say it's the real deal (I never did see it in theaters, just have what I watched on VHS and DVD many years ago to go by).

I looked on Amazon and didn't see it, but they do have a really nice looking Deluxe Edition hardcover book that was released late last year that is extremely enticing. I got a Barnes & Noble gift card for Christmas for some odd reason, so I believe I found what I'll be using that on (assuming the nearby location has a copy, of course). I can replace my paperback copy that's getting a bit beat up.
