If you can write a book that still has leftists pissed off over 60 years later, you did well.

Communist Manifesto
Das Kapital

Those were historically important works that inspired revolutionaries to murder 100 million people in the 20th century.

Ayn Rands work continues to anger people who want to expand the size and scope of the state. I see those people as being on the wrong side of history, and if you arent upsetting them you arent threatening them.

Meanwhile, Ayn Rand herself died while on assistance from said state. Granted, Trump supporters are used to their role models being hypocrites, but this was so blatant.

Yeah she took social security payments and argued that it was restitution. Not much of a gotcha point.

She claimed restitution when called on her hypocrisy. Still hypocrisy.

Dude km all for small government but if you think that's the only reason her book would anger someone you might be certifiably insane.

Im not an objectivist, so Im not going to endorse all of her work. You dont have to do that to take value from it.

If something is by and large garbage but has a valid point or two scattered through it I'm not going to praise the thing. And if the thing is atlas shrugged I'm going to actively criticize it because the bad outweighs the agreeable parts by a huge margin.

Being gay here is basically being exiled because everyone goes to church, and most churches don't tolerate it.

Sounds like you live in shitsville USA.

Garbage town filled with garbage people. Hope you get out of there someday.

I mean, I'm not gay so that doesn't really affect me. Plus it's still better than having to pretend to be politically correct because all my neighbors have thin skin.

You have to pretend to hate gay people, which is far, far worse

Looking at his topics on here, it's not exactly difficult for him to "pretend" that

uh no. when you're forced to pay large sums of money into a system and only receive a fraction of it back - you take it.

if you're falsely imprisoned are you going to refuse to eat jail food, starving to death, because "fuck them im innocent"?

So if they ask you what you think of gay people, you're only supportive of them?

Quite clear you don't know anything about Rand so I'm not sure why you're pretending you do.

I'm supportive of them in that I believe they have the same basic rights as a human that anyone else has. I even think that for the sake of the freedom that the nation stands for their partnerships should be legally recognized. Whether or not I agree with the term "marriage" being applied, given it's religious context is a different story.

See, it really doesn't matter which view of history you take, marriage is an inherently religious term.

It's odd that you juxtaposed those considering that a decentralized economic structure was a pivotal argument in both the Manifesto and Das Kapital. If you want a good example of a libertarian, look at Alexis de Tocqueville.

I would assume that the horror show communism created over and over again was not envisioned by Marx.

The libertarians that had the greatest influence on how I look at the world are Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard.
