Maybe if you live in rural area, or buying things not easily available in retail stores. However they are such an inconvenience. Having to waiting for something you've bought is already annoying enough, but everytime ive order from Amazon they've always been late with my package (that's after spending the extra money for 1 day shipping).

So much easier to just run to my local store, price match Amazon, and just out right buy it. Your also getting charged extra each month just to get your product faster.

I just really do not understand peoples love for that shit company.

I just bought a bunch of garden hose fittings and attachments off Amazon.

Option one was to drive half an hour to Home Depot and hope they had everything I wanted, and pay a premium.

Option two was to go on Amazon and buy everything I needed and pay less.

"hurr I can't understand why people want to pay less money and spend less time getting the stuff they need."

Because it's convenient to have things delivered straight to your door when you don't need it immediately, but want it relatively quick (within a couple of days), which is most of everything a normal person buys, at a competitive price to the point that most people just trust Amazon has the lowest price and forego shopping around, saving even more time.

It's not that hard to understand.

Just requested a refund for an item that is about a week late, this the 3rd time I've run into an accident with amazon. I do not think Amazon is a convienence overall.

Why would you pay less money if you price matched? How does going to the store and getting what you need more time than waiting for a package?.....like what?

Amazon prime gives me 20% off all game preorders (plus most games in the first week or two after release). That alone combined with the fact that I do all my holiday shopping there covers the cost from sales alone.

I suppose if you get caught off guard and need something like immediately you can run to Home Depot or Best Buy and spend like $10 for a charging cable you can get online for $2 and that's fine, but there's really no reason to go brick and mortar for anything at this point if you do the smallest bit of planning.

Because waiting for a package is passive time. If you don't need it until a certain date, waiting for it to come isn't a waste of time. Whereas actually going to a store, getting someone to price match it, and returning back home is all active time.

Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe's price matches items that are shipped and sold by Amazon. I have utilized their price matching benefits from these stores at least once.

I don't live in a rural place but I don't have a vehicle and don't want to go all the way to the next city just to buy something. I mostly spend my time in my room so amazon is a convenience and an easy way to find so many different items.

Pretty sure Best Buy does, or at least they did years ago. Sorry, it's been a while since I bought something electronic related from an actual brick-and-mortar. Online is way too convenient/cheaper.

Not 3rd party sellers, which is where most of the deals are. I'm unsure about "amazon verified" 3rd party sellers, but if you're telling me I can walk into a Best Buy with the marketplace prices on Amazon and buy myself an appliance then I'd love to know which BB you work at because I need a new fridge.

Been using it for 4 years and have only had 2 issues. One where I ordered a pair of sneakers and the package got lost or misplaced during transit, and I got my money back. The other was a band for my Samsung Gear S3 that was defective, and got a replacement a couple days later.

In a world where you don't have much time to go out and drive to all these different places, Amazon conveniently brings stuff to your house while you're too busy to be doing other things like work, school, etc.

not sure if tc is serious.

In this day and age, time is money. If time is not money for you then you are wasting time. And the convenience of buying something and having it at your door in 2 days is far greater and more efficient use of time than having to drive to the store, find the item, stand in line, then drive back. Even a nearby store can take 45+ minutes and imagine if its not nearby and you have to go grab something, then only time you have is after work, and that involves you getting into commuter traffic....a 'quick run to walmart' can take an hour and a half pretty easily based on your location and direction of traffic.

I work for Amazon (Japan), but don't get the hate that I see online sometimes.
At least out here, I always get my packages same day or next day, and can get them in 1 or 2 hours if I am rushed. And, they're almost always the lowest price.

I bought 109 items on Amazon in 2017, I can think of less than a handful of items that were delivered late, part of it was probably cuz I ordered it late at night or something, and each of those times the item came tops 1 day late. Its really not a big deal.

More times than not it's cheaper than the store, and I don't mind waiting 2 days. The only time I've had late packages, and I'm talking 3 days instead of 2, is during December. They also have a lot of stuff or brands that's hard to find at any given store.

all the local instances of chain stores refuse to price match anything but their own websites and often don't have a lot of things I'm looking for, let alone at the prices Amazon or its sellers have

I prefer retail to waiting two days for packages to arrive, even if I'm just wasting away more cash with gas, but they just don't cut it for a lot of things

I love amazon I buy shit off there all the time. It's awesome sometimes they don't even charge you tax. Plus it's like Christmas all the time getting packages delivered every week or so. Shipping only takes two days so I just place my orders early in the week and get everything by Friday.

I just need them to bring amazon fresh to my area now...

There's this book I want that's out of stock on Amazon. Estimated delivery is two weeks they say. Not that long of a wait but I prefer to read it now. So I thought to myself this is the perfect opportunity to support a small business even if I have to pay a couple extra dollars.

I visited five book stores within a few miles and they all sell the book for roughly $25 before tax. Amazon has it back-ordered for $10.70 after tax. That's a lot more than just a couple extra dollars so I ordered on Amazon and decided to wait. It'll be here on Friday, days before the two week estimate.

I have a hard time supporting small businesses.
