No I'm not worried about the crowds or talking to people or missing panels or what have you.

I feel like cons are my opportunity for serious social interaction and I always stress myself out beforehand trying to pressure myself into making sure I don't "waste" such an opportunity, because they only come around once a year.

Y'know like this is my opportunity to meet people, make connections, possibly forge relationships and I put all this pressure on myself to do so, to the point where I can't relax while I'm at a con because I won't feel like I'm getting things done.

Which is odd, because my social life has been a lot better in the past few years, but I still feel like this anxiety is a holdover from the days where I had very little social interactions.

don't put all this pressure on yourself to meet new people. I meet tons of people but don't ever see them again unless its at the same line when meeting a creator or at the next con.

I'm the same way when I go to concerts and stuff, like I would love to socialize and meet people in my town who like the same stuff as me but instead I just stand around feeling self conscious

Think of it like a situation where I have to pit myself in a battle against my usual social anxiety. I know I have to face this foe while I'm there, so I'm getting a somewhat different kind of anxiety building myself up for this battle.

Kinda meta, when you think about it.
