The question is impossible to answer. "New York?" My grand mother lives in western New York state in a nice place that cost around $80,000. $200,000 there will get you a 5,000 square foot palace of a house. My wife also owns a place in Queens. It's an 800 square foot shoe box but it also is only worth about $170,000. We can afford to keep it.
