First was a gem. A true novelty.

It's like someone took a look at it and said, "how can we take this and make it a generic slasher?"

At which point someone else jumped up and said "we can do a throwback to 80's! That's hasn't been ran into the ground lately."

Terrible. First and only movie I've walked out of in my life. Ten year wait for this trash. What a shame.

Nah. Not anything at all.

They also killed doll face and pinup

The ending was about Getting a knock on the door at a hospital and the main girl giving off a PTSD vibe from what I hear. Too keep the theme I suppose but even that is pretty damn lame compared to the original.

Also no harassment or intimidation. No games being played. Best we got was One of them getting into a crashed truck and turning the music up while the dad was impaled through the lower torso/legs That's pretty much it.

They reused aspects of the original Like turning out the porch light and asking for tamera And that's pretty much all it has in common to the original.

I knew based off the trailers I shouldn't waste my time. first is a classic that I love too much to let it be soured by a weak sequel.

tbh when it came out with a weird title like "Prey at night" instead of just a solid "The Strangers 2" I knew things didn't go how I had hoped

Yeah good call. Don't ruin it tbh.

I saw the bad reviews and heard the opinions but was like "eh, lots of people hated the original too".. plus I never let reviews dictate it.

This is the one and only time I actually feel like I wish I let a review sway me into not seeing it period.

I saw the first one mid day at the theaters and it was completely empty except for me and my buddy. it made it such an awesome horror watching experience.

idk how any horror fan could hate that movie tbh.

I'll eventually watch this on Netflix I'm sure, but I'll pretend it's a spinoff or something.. since it sounds like it may as well be.

Yeah the first was great. Idk how it got so much hate by horror fans either.

Agreed on the Netflix part, it's worth a watch. Fwiw it's a pretty solid 80's throwback to the slasher genre.

Loved it. One of my favorites TBH. Looking for the magic was such a fantastic choice too IMO (never heard it before but it stuck with me).

Love the way they turned the tropes too.

The girl being raised on a survivalist compound in the outback? Fucking genius mate lol.

I'm ashamed to admit it but I didn't see the twist either with Crispin IIRC his name correctly.

My ex and I were thinking it was gonna be trash but nothing was playing that night so we were like screw it let's check it out. Both walked out gushing.
