I've tried playing games I have on Steam (especially games that require quick reflexes and stuff like Mirror's Edge) and I'm like, geez, I don't see how people use this efficiently. I need a controller.

In terms of shooters, stuff like Quake and Unreal I can do since that requires you to just run around, jump and shoot.
But when it's a game a hunch of other button commands are involved, I'm shit out of luck.

I used to be the same but I got used to it. Just stick to similar bindings for each game and you're fine. The majority of games have pretty similar controls these days.

The offset of W over S drives me nuts.

Plus, hitting E when I'm trying to hit R, etc.

I mean really, keyboards in general just aren't designed for gaming. They need to make a new left-hand standard that looks something like the Wii nunchuck tbh.

You know, I preferred playing on a controller for the longest time, especially FPSs, because I felt my hand wasn't steady enough for using the mouse. I used a PS4 controller to play Overwatch on the PC, and never really felt like I was at a disadvantage. When Orisa came out, I enjoyed playing her, but got frustrated because I kept getting flanked by Tracers and couldn't turn around fast enough with a controller, so I decided to flip to keyboard and mouse simply to counter Tracers. It took a while and a lot of frustration due to lack of muscle memory, but I no longer give a rip about Tracer when playing Orisa, and my competitive SR has gone up by over 800 and is still climbing. Anyway, with practice it's definitely possible. Not saying there's anything wrong with playing with a controller, just that you will limit yourself in certain areas. Also be aware that you can play with a controller on PC, so you're not really limited to a console.

Is it WASD in general? Or just having to use the other keys for multiple things? I eventually got super used to it for Overwatch and am low GM now. If it's a keys issue and you can't get used to it, have you tried getting a mouse with 6+ buttons? It works wonders.
