This generation is the first that doesn't have enough pension from company or social sources, relying solely on their savings.

This means your children will be paying for your retirement, while simultaneously being unable to afford their own equity to retire on their own.

This will cause a chain reaction which will result in either economic civil war, or worst case scenario - a mass euthanization of the elderly like in that episode of Star Trek.

Pension system? The only people I know with pensions under the age of about 50 are government employees. I'm paying for my own retirement by putting money into my 401k and praying the markets don't collapse right before I retire.

In the past, occupational pensions were common.

Right they're not anymore and given the average age of a GameFAQs user:

Are you just addressing this topic to the 10 government employees and babyboomers here or are there more foreign PotDers who still live in countries where pensions are the norm than I'm aware?

Well, everyone really - the average person does NOT have enough in their Roth IRA 401k Bitcoin Etc, not by a longshot (estimates are people only have about 1/6th of what they need)

I'm using pension as a generic placeholder for all retirement options since there's several different sources, colloquially known as pensions even though they're just social security, UIE, savings and whatnot

My retirement plan is to live on my own until I run out of money or die, and if the former happens before the latter Im gonna commit some nonviolent crimes until they put me in prison so I can have free food and healthcare.

My pension is to stay working in the jails/prisons for another 19 years so I can get 80%.
So do this!
