I didn't realize how many crazy talented celebrities they got to do VA for it. This show is still stellar. Better than the Batman show tbh

It being better than Batman TAS is a valid opinion. Superman is much more consistent in quality and it has actual story arcs.

Superman is still an idiot for choosing Lois over Lana.

Fuck going after the one that's hard to get. When a hot ass redhead wants to ride yo dick, you let her.

While I watched both as a kid, I l remember Superman TAS episodes more. I also looked forward to it more, especially in the Batman/Superman Adventures. I will rewatch Batman TAS though.

I love the art style and the animation was quite fluid. I don't know why modern carroons feel so fast and lacking in frames, but Superman had good pacing. Same with the Fleischer Superman.

I have a 1989 book on animation history (funny that it ends in 1989 RIGHT before all of those magnificent Disney movies and TV cartoons, as well as The Simpsons) and they devote several pages to the Fleischer cartoons. Quite a fascinating read, I didn't know that their budget for each episode was enormous.

There's also a lot of subtleties to the actual animation, little movements that make the actions feel more fluid.

A fantastic show.

Yeah. I remember reading somewhere that they were too expensive to continue. Even after the series ended, they did two more black and white cartoons featuring Popeye and Sgt. Snafu dressed as Superman as a sort of shout-out.

Superman TAS was great but I think Batman's cast was better and lead to better stories.

Those shows were great. They should be ripping them off for their movies.

I wish a company with a lot of money would fund lavishly traditionally animated shows again.

The first Batman/Superman crossover is brilliant. It gives each character advantages and disadvantages and makes you believe that they can be useful to one another. And then it does the same damn thing for the villains.

Superman isn't able to keep up with the Joker's bullshit, Batman knows pretty much every move the guy will take. Batman isn't able to take on Luthor's spider-tank, Superman effortlessly crushes it.

Joker eventually ends up biting back at Lex and stealing one of his warplanes, but the story ends with Joker "dead" and Lex free and clear.

I only like Superman more because I like the character's themes more, specifically the whole non brooding hero, action taking place in the daytime, in stark contrast to Batman's night time and brooding theme. Otherwise they're of course both amazing shows (which goes without saying)

Rewatched the show nearly 3 years ago and it was great. Also got to watch episodes I never did get to see as a kid, specifically from the last seasons and episodes, that was a real treat.

However, the very reason why I like Superman TAS is the same reason why I always disliked the depressing ending, which imo ends the show on a dour note.

To close this off, I'll say this show is a must watch because it's great, and if you're planning on continuing the DCAU in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, definitely watch Superman TAS first. JL continues Superman's story in a lot of ways and makes up for the sad feeling I got during TAS's ending.

They weren't planning to end the show is why. Superman: TAS was going to continue with Superman trying to win back the population's trust.,

I can't remember if I saw that on the dvd extras but I wouldn't be surprised if that were true. Show deserved more seasons. DCAU in its entirety was way ahead of its time, deserved way more episodes and recognition, and still ranks the top of the list to this day.
