Trump and the republicans all know this too. Trump signed the spending bill, but he was very outspoken about how he didnt wanna sign it and how bad it was. But he knew he had no choice, so he pulled the military card, "But we were, in a sense, forced if we want to build our military we were forced to have" He then went on to say he'd never sign a bill like this again. Welp, too late, ya did.

1. Democrats got everything they wanted
2. Trump didnt get his dumbass ideas enacted
3. Trumps base is upset at him and melting down
4. Democrats will take back the house in november

This was their window of getting shit done with complete republican control of the executive and legislative branches of government. Trump's base was outspoken about wanting him in because he was an outsider and he would stand up to those in government who wasted taxpayer money. Basically they put him in to veto a bill like this. Its exactly what he didn't do.

Republicans realize they only have a few more months to do anything before they start losing control. Right Wing pundits are all highly critical of this move at the moment. When Trump said he'd never sign a bill like this again, Ann Coulter responded, "Ya cuz you'll be impeached". And on top of that Coulter basically said "President Schumer" cuz she understands all of this that just happened.

Democrats set the chips up perfectly and basically made the republicans pick their own poison. They are not as clueless as it seems.

This is why you see Schumer celebrating victory and this is why you see Fox News melting down.

I mean, he's been played by everyone no matter what particular news you believe. The GOP believe they played him for a figurehead so they could slip in their choices. The Democrats believe they played him to weaken his own party. Most people believe Russia played him to botch up diplomatic relations in Europe.

The only thing I dont yet understand is how republicans allowed Trump to be thrown under the bus like this. No one in washington is dumb. Its all a complex game of thrones. Paul Ryan just littlefingered Trump, basically.

I think that is the point. A lot of Republicans backed him because he's easy to manipulate and incredibly easy to throw under the bus if the tides turn at all. Think about it; if the shit hits the fan, you turn around and say, "Trump doesn't represent the rest of us. He's a loose cannon. Just look at his Twitter" and you wash your hands of it. He's the perfect fall guy because he's constantly reinforcing that he is unpredictable and unqualified and it's public knowledge that he constantly undermines people in his own party, making him look like no one likes him.

I doubt Trump is very popular to the GOP given how he acts. They only side with him as a way to get stuff they want passed.

Except that all of his actions make it at least somewhat believable, such as firing prominent Republicans, insulting the people he ran against, being wishy-washy on some of his most prominent campaign promises, etc. You may not believe it, but I'm fairly certain that there is enough of a base there that any spin doctor worth their salt could parlay it into a Republican resurgence for a candidate that represents something completely different from Trump.

nah. They all bent for him. They all supported him. Even if they don't like him they are complicit. And the base loves Trump. Or did.

Well I sure as hell wasn't going to vote for a corrupt party that calls itself democratic but completely subverts the will of the people and tries to rig an election.

If you dont want to vote for a corrupt party you're best off not voting at all. Politics is corrupt, both parties are corrupt, all parties will do whatever in their power, outside of the rules if need be, to remain in power. Its a matter of out smarting the other party with the disposable tools at hand. This isn't exactly the politics you learned in highschool government. This is real, dirty politics. It is what it is.

If you honestly believe "democrats are corrupt and republicans are not" you are naive as hell and I got some knives and vacuum cleaners to sell you.

Man, I used to follow politics really closely, then I abandoned it when I realized its impossible to make any difference and it was a waste of time. But as I do get back into it and do some reading, I'm realizing, who cares if I cant make a difference, its entertaining as hell. And when you realize that everything is corrupt and everything everyone says on camera or twitter is just a political move in this large game of thrones, it becomes alot more bearable and entertaining. I mean my eyes started to open after reading Joe Scarboroughs first 2 books. You guys should all check em out.

But if I get back into politics, I'd have to wean down a bit off sports and video games. I spend too much time on that right now, basically keeping my fantasy game strong.
