It's been a long time, but I think after beating certain missions, you unlock the next couple in a set you can do in any order. Beat those, get another gate mission, then another set after that.

Hope you enjoy it. It's one of those games where it's very skill-based and once you get a hang of the mechanics, you'll be able to run hard levels with ease even if you're not super well equipped.
