Probably a good idea to avoid nsfw stuff on work based programs.

Lol at being stupid enough to use your personal phone for work stuff. If they want you to use a phone for work purposes, make them buy you one.

We use Slack at CBSi. I feel bad for anyone who attempts to read the stupid shit we talk about in the GameFAQs channels. It's mostly just us making fun of the newest Steam games and posting animated gifs about whatever topic we're discussing.

I think this is just saying that the administrator account in slack, which as I understand it is just a chat/websharing environment, can see direct messages within slack between two users.

Correct me if I'm wrong TC.

Yeah, sometimes I like to shoot the shit with coworkers in the DMs and sometimes the messages may not be appealing to employers. It would suck to get fired for your private conversations.

Breaking news: companies have access to company communications. Just like company email don't say anything you wouldn't read out loud to HR/the CEO/your boss.

this is basically it, as far as I can tell. here's the article I first hear about it in https://www.fastcompany.com/40547684/slack-picked-a-weird-time-to-make-it-easier-for-bosses-to-download-your-private-chats

I think the worst part of the whole thing is that if the admin has permission from the users, the funcionality to read direct messages is free. But if they can't manage to get premission, or don't want to tell you, they can just pay slack for the functionality instead. that just feels super gross in a lot of ways

At my place when punching in a order to send to the kitchen people would have fun with the kitchen message Not all of them were very flattering about guests or management.

Unbeknownst to them a full log of all these is available to the managers. One day the GM comes out with the print out of some of these and starts reading some of them aloud to the employees.

Needless to say it stopped pretty quick.

I don't know, that seems pretty rude of the employer. Sometimes the employees have to vent, and to get angry at them for doing so, in a private manner, is a violation of trust.

Plus, it's micromanagement and that's the worst type of management.
