Now he's nowhere to be found, and his IM status is "away," for this company presentation

He was gone yesterday too without so much as a courtesy email letting us know

Takes a lot of Bullsh***** to become a boss. Pretty much where I work that's how you get ahead.

My boss has gotten to the point where he strolls in at 10am every day. Of course our department just sorta comes in whenever or works from home so doesn't matter too much.

It's not very useful for our office since we're a little satellite for a company headquartered in Chicago, but it's expected that we be there. It's similar to the one that he ripped my coworkers for last quarter, so it's hypocritical of him to rip them for not being there on time and then not being there on time himself.

it's just a person talking over a powerpoint

nobody is expected to talk, it's usually just the CEO and a few c-level execs presenting.

it is pointless and my boss knows it too, but it doesn't justify him ripping the late arrivals for no reason last time

My boss would stroll in around 7:00 every morning when they were supposed to be in by 6:30.

It set the tone for the rest of the workplace as everyone else would be late too. No one gave a shit, but the pay was nice, so no one really complained.

i mean yeah, but if you're like me, you'll never be able to legit sleep or dick around because there's always the small chance that he just suddenly decides to show up and walk around the office to make sure we're all here

i think that's why he never emails when he's gonna be out tbh, because he wants to make sure he squeezes every minute of productivity from us that he can. heaven forbid someone shows up at 915 or leaves at 445

i can see, but definitely can't hear. i have maybe 1.5 seconds between me seeing him approaching to him seeing the screen, which is plenty of time to ALT + TAB, but if I'm not typing, then I have 1.5 seconds to get to the minimize button, which can be a challenge.

hence the sleeping doesn't really work

actually it's just the way our office is set up, i've got a pretty far back seat, so sometimes i'll hear him talk to someone in one of the four desks ahead of mine, which gives me more time to switch back to a work screen

actually funnily enough, the closest guy is the boss' best (work) friend. he doesn't even try to hide it when he's not working because he knows his boss don't give a fuck

i'm sure they do, but i've never been approached about it. i think it's one of those things where they only go to it if they need to. like the security cameras for example. there isn't a little room somewhere in the office with someone constantly watching the screens. they're just there to record in case an incident were to occur.

so in this case, if my productivity were to drop, then yeah they'd probably go look at my internet history and be like "what the fuck is current events and why is it responsible for 98% of your bandwidth"

not exactly; i'm middle of the road when it comes to talent. he just thought it would be funny to blackball me as a "prank" or something, which got me triggered because these people play an average of 2hrs a day. so if i'm blackballed, then i'm doing an average of 2 more hours of work a day for the same pay
