My phone bill is $123/month

Back when I had their XL plan I was paying more(like $130) and only got 12 GB.

How much data do you get and how much data do you use per month CE

I don't even use 1GB in a month.... My home internet racks up like over 1TB though because I buy tons of digital games and, well, they're fucking huge now.

I'm grandfathered on an AT&T unlimited plan. Unlimited text, essentially unlimited talk, and I use roughly 10GB-20GB of data each month (no interruptions, all HD). They claim to start throttling at 22GB+ if the network traffic is heavy, but I've never reached that point. I pay $95/mo.

I'm at 7.37GB right now since 2 March. I have Verizon's unlimited plan which is like $15 less than the 10GB plan I had before.

I normally used 8-9GB before but I also limited video streaming to make sure I didn't go over. I just switched plans and haven't been streaming much so iono what my normal usage is going to be. I doubt I'll ever hit the throttle point though.

Ting, pay as you go for everything, so I don't really "get" a set amount of data.

The lowest data price bracket is 100mb for $3 (rates get better as you use more) which is the bracket I end up in - and I rarely use more than 10mb of that.

I have Verizon and I pay $60/month after taxes and fees.

I didn't even know they had individual plans that cost $120/month.

They were forced to offer it again last year or so since everyone else was offering unlimited.

Verizon's new unlimited. Used to have the old grandfathered one from ways back, but we got booted.

A lot, for a phone. Something around 100 GiB in a month can be pretty normal. Why? My phone is my internet source for my desktop via USB tethering.
I don't have anything else right now, not even dial-up (no phone lines). Satellite is trash and doesn't count.

It's ...serviceable as an internet. Main problem is that it seems to randomly disconnect (think it's related to high-traffic-usage) and I have to plug my phone back in to get it to reconnect. Irritating for gaming.

T-Mobile
3 GB/month (with binge-on) and rollover
Unlimited talk/text

$50 for the plan, $40/month for phone/insurance, and like $10 in taxes/fees. $101 total, but I can pay my phone off whenever I want if I choose to and lower my bill by like $30.

I've seen "Straight Talk" and "Ting" mentioned. Do these services have fast/adequate data coverage?

For example, can you drive/fly a few states over and not worry at all about your data coverage?

I believe Ting has some sort of coverage map on its site. It uses Sprint and T-Mobile's networks, if that's any indication. For the most part I've never had any problems getting a signal...except for a nearby Safeway where my phone will absolutely not pick up anything. Dunno why.

I may have to look into something like that. If it operates from Sprint and TM, coverage should be pretty reasonable. At the same time, though, their networks aren't covered as well for highway travel (they work best in cities).

My experience with travel away from cities is really just restricted to going between Washington and Oregon, but I never had a problem with it then. Pretty small sample size, though.
