Was it age, non repairs, or just bad engineering?

It was about a week and a half old. I assume it was just bad engineering.

That automated car just ran someone over and killed them. There have been a few road deaths in the news recently.

It has been 0 days since something interesting happened.

Well it was clearly engineered wrong, couldn't hold its own weight. They did a stress test on it that morning and then I believe opened it for the first time and the thing came down.

There is a full investigation going. I am sure the Professional Engineers who signed off on this will get in trouble.

Construction began in March 2016, and was finished 9 days ago.

Wikipedia seems to think it wasn't even finished yet.

The project's lead engineer discovered cracks at the north end of the span (the end that later broke) two days before it happened. He reported this by voicemail to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The problem is that the FDoT didnt listen on the voicemail until after the accident.

Depending on what they knew about the integrity of the structural, charges can be filed, ranging from manslaughter to negligence causing death. Can also be a pure mistake they didn't know a damn thing about.

People fuck up dude. Put your knee jerk reactions away.
