This is inspired by the Twilight Princess topic from earlier today. Im generally curious what everyone elses opinions are here.

Im gonna go with the contrarian choice here and say Minish Cap is my favorite, as it was the first one I ever played. But I do love TP, OoT, ALttP, and BotW.

I grew up with ocarina so it has a very special place in my heart. First played it in grade school and have played through it every couple of years since.

Really really loved botw last year.

Its between those two, but I say ocarina just because I have history and nostalgia with it.

I'm always flipflopping between MM and OoT on this one. I just like the way the games feel, I guess you could say I like the physics or the engine or whatever.

I think I'd have to give the title to OoT since MM has a few too many sections that I just think aren't fun

Twilight Princess

I liked the art style, the controls (had Wii version), the lore and connections to OoT (which I never played until a few years after I bought TP) and the dungeon designs. I used no guides or tutorials or anything, so when I got stuck on something, I felt a massive amount of relief when I solved it. Looking at you, Sacred Grove statue puzzle.

OOT
Main reason is the impact it had on me as a kid. It was my first 3D game, and the first time a game really drew me into its world. I wasn't just a tiny sprite running to the right toward a goal in a cutesy landscape - I was a person, in a world, on a quest with actual weight behind it. I know my love of fantasy as a story setting is because of OOT, to the point that fantasy is the setting I chose for my own writing.

Setting that aside, the game simply got everything right. Or close enough to everything, as the few issues the game has are minor at best.

OoT.

I had played Zelda (NES) and ALTTP as a kid, but getting OoT the day it came out, and just exploring and getting to the Great Deku Tree and playing through the first dungeon. HOLY. SHIT. Blew my mind.

Before 2017, it would be Wind Waker. I loved the concept of traveling to new islands, not knowing what you were going to end up finding. And the graphics/art style were appealing.

Now it's Breath of the Wild, because I love the open world and the graphics.

Incidentally, those are the only 2 Zelda games I've been able to play all the way through besides Ocarina of Time 3D.

Breath of the Wild. Just an incredibly engrossing open world that I love to just wander about in, a very fun gameplay loop, and just all-around enjoyable story and addition to the series lore.

Twilight Princess is my favorite game in general.

This might be nostalgia, or a style over substance thing, but the atmosphere's its best aspect imo. The dungeons are these details areas, with most of then having a little backstory. Link's put into this weird situation for the firsr half with Midna, the wolf transformation, and the Twilight. The whole sequence from beating the Lakebed Temple to finishing Arbiter's Grounds is the one of the highest peaks of a game.

The dungeons themselves are some of my favorite in the series. They're kinda dumbed down compared to other most others Zeldas (OoT, for examople), but they still provide a fantastic sense of progression, cool gimmicks and enemies.

Even outside of dungeons, there's planty I like. Although I do have quite a few big complaints about the game, though. And it wouldn't be the first Zelda I'd recommend, because, well, the intro.

Link's Awakening.

- Good story for a Zelda game.
- You can jump!
- Item system was great. Not being locked into your sword 24/7 was an awesome design choice. You also could combine some items together (Bomb arrows, anyone?).
- Dungeons are fun and challenging. Eagle's Tower in particular is one of the best Zelda dungeons ever.
- Overworld is great, too. Good size, and even when gating off areas with certain items, rarely feels linear (conversely, the overworld is my biggest gripe with Oracle of Ages).
- Most of all, the entire game is full of character, feeling alive and memorable.

Wind Waker. No other entry gave that sense of adventure imo. That feeling of not knowing what's on the horizon. And the artstyle is gorgeous and aged way better than the "realistic" Twilight Princess. Fuck the haters

1. BotW - Gives me giddy feeling. Love the open world aspect.

2. Twilight Princess HD - Starts slow as fuck, but picks up. The graphics are smooth, music is great, and battles are fun. Decent dungeons, too.

3. Majora's Mask - Dark and nightmarish. I love it.
