I wouldnt argue that Japan or Korea are part of the West. Besides, theres a big difference between calling a nation Western and straight up calling a nation European. Israel can be considered Western (though I would debate that), it cant be considered European. Western implies it is culturally similar to Europe/The West. European implies it is ethnically European.

Israel has more in common with European nations than its neighbours in the Middle East.
