There was this total dildo that worked at a GS near me... He was a genuinely awful guy. I had a good rapport with other people who worked there though, and it was a good store overall. Anyway, he was gone for a while and I made some remark about "thank god he's never here when I come in..." The girl explained to me that he had left a new Xbox on the counter and a guy in the store grabbed it and ran. The employee pursued him and rolled his ankle pretty badly on the street. The thief looked back and saw him on the ground, put down the console, and ran back to sucker-punch him in the head. If it had been anybody else, I'd have been outraged. Because it was him, I was happy...

Yeah

One manager told me about it when I worked at the grocery store. Said back in the day she chased a shoplifter, fell down, hurt her leg and the store got super pissed about it and the only reason she didn't get fired was because nobody told her about the policy.

So when another, shittier manager basically told me to chase down a shoplifter one day I told him to fuck off cause we had a no chase policy. He tried to get me fired for it but then it turned out I was right lol.

An old job of mine didn't have that as a policy, it was just highly discouraged. I found that out after a customer walked out of the store, set of the alarm and didn't stop. I caught up to them, told them they set off our alarm and they just gave some bs like "Oh, I forgot I had this" before pulling out a controller that was wrapped up in the jacket they ware carrying in their arms.
