16 y/o Paul Holland Cockeran III from North Carolina is charged with MURDER after he put his good friend, 19 y/o Dillion Scott Allison in a CHOKE HOLD that killed him!!

The teens were hanging out in a parking lot smoking weed at 1am when Paul began teasing Dillion and then they got into a fight!!

Dillion got upset and left the parking lot but shortly after Paul went to Dillion's house to pick up some clothing he left there and they got into into a round 2 fight!!

But Paul suddenly put Dillion in a choke hold from behind and then he passed out!!..He called 911 and attempted to perform CPR as paramedics arrived and continued CPR where he was then sent to Wilkes County Medical Centre but did not regain consciousness

Paul was initially charged with felony of assault inflicting serious injury and assault by strangulation but investigators said he fled to Michigan and was brought back to North Carolina.

In this time, Dillion was taken off life support and died and Paul's charges were upgraded to FIRST DEGREE MURDER!!

Dillions mother says she was relying heavily on prayer and community support and that she FORGAVE Paul for what he did..she said "I just want to let him knowo that i'm not mad at him, and i do forgive him and i am sorry that he is going to haev to live with that for the rest of his life. I really do feel like i have learned no matter what happens in our lives it could always be worse. I know that sounds awful for me to say after i just los tmy son, but it could always be worse. There are other families that go through things that are so much worse, so i keep focus on that and learned to forgive"

Did you know that there's a difference between a chokehold and strangle??

Sounds suspicious for being a mere accident. How long would you need to maintain a chokehold after the person goes limp for it to potentially become fatal?

In highschool a kid in my class put a kid in a chokehold when the teacher was in her office grabbing something and when he let go the kid's head hit his desk and he was drooling all over the place. Everybody that saw it started to freak out until he came to.

I think they're being overzealous with murder charge, you can only be charged once and if the jury doesn't see it as murder he'll walk scott free. That's why it should be manslaughter or something like that.

Murder is a stretch. Manslaughter is a proper charge.

I mean, I dont know the exact timeframe behind strangulation, but if it can be shown that you have to maintain a chokehold for half a minute or more after the other person has already gone unconscious for it to be fatal, then I believe thatd be reasonable grounds for a first-degree murder charge. I imagine there must be something of that nature to warrant upgrading the charges in this case.

Nah, that would be second degree murder. If the jury can't go down to a lesser charge, he probably walks.

One time I got my brother in a DDT and rolled over so I was sitting on him with my arm still around the back of his neck (I call it the DDL). He tapped out but when I tried to release him I couldn't because my hand got stuck behind my back. It took me a minute to release him but I honestly thought he might die if I couldn't.
