80/80

Let's pretend you bought a TV for $250. Said TV was 50% off, it's normally $500.

Say someone breaks it and offers to pay for it.

Would you expect $500 (full price) or $250 (price you actually paid)?

This. What you paid is irrelevant. If it was a gift would you not charge for it?

Also, good on them for offering to pay instead of being made to.

This.

So say i waited months and finally got that tv i wanted for 250. Now they give me 250.

I still have pay 250 all over again to replace it because they are an idiot and broke something that wasn't theirs.

You break something you replace it. Not complain about the price.

A friend of mine lost one of my older semi rare video games. I bought it when it was a couple months old for like 20$. So he wanted to give me 20$.

Too bad when i bought it that was 15 years ago and the average cost for it on ebay is now 80$. I told him i liked the game and for him to just replace it. I dont care how. If he wants to pay less he can troll for the best deal not throw that responsibility back on me and feel like he is absolved.

What if someone damaged a rare baseball card worth thousands of dollars but wanted to pay you 1$ because that's what you paid for the pack it came in 40 years ago. The logic just doesn't hold.

This.

So...$500?

$250 isn't enough to replace it, as said TV now costs $500.

Cheapest price available to replace that exact model.

For example if I got a phone for 1$ from my mobile operator and someone broke it, I'd ask the full price.

Who cares how much I paid for it, it's about what it's worth.
