I only keep a link in mine because it makes skimming a thread for my previous posts easier. signatures provide a way for users to display what kind of personality their online account represents. It's a way to make them appear witty and humorous. Also if your signature is your computer specs it lets others know that you make enough money to afford a high end computer and that you are smart enough to build a PC.
