I say that for a very long time there's always been a mass influx of shitty companies trying to get as much money from you as possible and caring a lot more about what makes a quick, huge profit over actual quality assurance, and there's also a lot of other companies that genuinely care about quality control.

To this I say Do what you personally can, and vote with your wallet. and encourage others to. It's the only way that things are gonna change. It's gonna be a slow process, but it can work if we keep trying!

CD Project is amazing with The Witcher 3, so if you're into WRPGs, give them your money, and buy it full price if you can afford it. The company that made Hellblade: Senua's Sacrafice is also amazing, so also give them your money and buy it full price if you can afford it. And if you can't afford it, or don't have the willpower to not do it, it's fine, but at least be open to the idea, and try to encourage those who can to do so.

Meanwhile Ubisoft only makes good Assassins Creed games to do damage control, so either flat out don't buy the game, buy it secondhead, borrow it from a friend, or rent it on Gamefly, and give them the finger. And if you don't have the willpower to do so, that's fine, just kinda try to do this kind of thing a little less often.

And for the love of god, never, ever EVER buy a lootbox, or a microtransaction. You're playing DIRECTLY into their hands.

Anyways, any comments on this? Any ideas of your own?

Gamers arent the customer for most triple A publishers, their shareholders are

The only thing that will get them to change their business plan is to make it stop being profitable

Mhm, and that's why you do what you can to stop them from being profitable.

i've known real life whales who really genuinely enjoy paying money to win games against opponents who haven't committed to certain games more than they do. I don't think you're going to stop these types of games from being profitable because these people exist and they're never going to pay attention top pleas like this.

best we can do is just continue to buy the games that we perceive as having value and supporting those developers. but pay to win, loot boxes and mini-buys aren't going away any time soon.

for me, i'm ok with buying extra cosmetics (basically things which aren't pay to win) down the line during the life of the game, though things like pre-order bonuses and dlc on release make me a bit salty.

to clarify my thoughts, I mean I bought team fortress 2 when it came out and years later I was still supporting the updates and development of the game by buying skins I liked and saw value in, for me there's nothing wrong with that. To less of a degree the continued support and development into rainbow six siege but that's debatable for this season.
