I think a perfect example of this poll is Rage. Great game playing through it and WAM that ending just hits out of nowhere. Didn't ruin the game per se, but it definitely effected it in the long run.

I came into this topic thinking of Bad Ending as an alternate end where things went bad. All set to talk about the Bad End of Soul Nomad and the World Eaters, where instead of saving people from the World Eaters in the title, you end up fucking over the entire world so bad that even the creatures that were destroying everything will team up with the survivors you haven't killed yet to take you down.

The bit where a girl you save from her uncle instead ends up raped and driven insane and becomes a murderous psycho that worships you and ends up killing others for you really stood out. Everything that happened along the Bad Ends was fucked up, but that had a lot of impact.
