Trump is re-opening a seemingly settled video game debate as he will meet with top video game executives tomorrow on why their content is triggering violent behaviour and what can be done about it.

But with only one problem..2 decades of reserch repeatedly failed to uncover such link.

However he's moving forward with it as he calls the content of "vicious" level of video game and movie violence in the context of school safety shows he is eager to explore the issue.

Trump also alluded that his youngest son, 11 y/o Barron is subjected to violent content from video games and the internet as he said "The video games, the movies, the internet stuff is so violent, it's so incredible. I see it. I get to see things that you'd be amazed at. I have a young, very young son and i look at some of the things he's watching and playing and i say, how is that possible? And this is what kids are watching and playing?"

He's entertained a wide variety of options to prevent mass shootings from arming teachers to asking the entertainment industry to tone down or even BAN R rated video game violence.

It was suggested by Marsha Blackburn who floated the idea that violent imagery is detrimental to children with mental health isues as Trump also says "You rate movies for different things maybe you have to also rate them for terror, for what they're doing and what they're all about. It's hard to believe that, at least for a percentage of children, maybe it's a small percentage, that this doesn't have a negative impact on their thought process. These things are really violent"

Neither of these things are the problem. People may abuse video games as an escape of their reality, but why are they trying to escape their reality?!

No sense in punishing responsible legal gun owners, and theres also no sense in punishing older teens that know the difference between real life and fantasy.

I guess if I had to choose, Ill pick video games since being unable to play one isnt going to put anyones life in danger

Making people have extended background checks and register them with the state won't punish gun owners any more than car owners are. The lax policies and lack of penalties for those who fail to enforce the actual laws on the books happens to be part of it. Bigger picture, etc.

I wonder if he'll actually grow up to be a good person, it's pretty obvious that trump's other kids grew up to be awful. And likely criminals based off pending charges and the like

Only when they're parents do a poor job looking after them.

He sounds like that parent that buys a GTA game for their 10 year old then acts shocked that it's a game for adults and blames the developer

So, rather than just being a responsible parent...

Trump usually pretty much ignored his children as they grew up and let the mothers do that. Trump doesn't really know how to parent.

So what causes mass murders 50+ years ago when video games never existed? Yeah, that's why banning violent games is a stupid idea that won't solve anything. Hell, it might just get worse because of it. Because now kids have no way to vent their anger.
