Cause that VA was the kid Goku voice as well, and for some reason people LOVED it and she had to voice adult Goku as well. Vastly annoying to me.

Females are often used to voice kids and Japan doesn't like to recast voice actors/actresses. Since she voiced him as a kid in the original Dragon Ball they kept her on as his voice.

If God forbid the original voice actress died - would they write in an explanation on a voice change? Like . . . Goku uses the dragon balls so that he doesn't sound like an air raid siren?

Japan takes their voice acting super cereal, so changing veteran VAs almost never happens. Like if you were wondering why subbed King Kai sounds like a dying old man, it's because he is.

I think Goku still having the same voice since he was a kid is appropriate for the character, even if it's kind of hard on the ears. Schemmel and the rest of the english localization make Goku out to be way more heroic and manly than he really is.

A screechy old lady isn't youthful to me. TFS MasakoX sounds youthful enough I guess.

Dunno why people complain about this. DBZ is one of the few anime with a decent dub, just watch that instead.
