Yes as in most people who lived in similar time periods have similar values. Not as in people from 1965-1988 share one set and people from 1988-2002 share another.

Kind of. In the same way that any other categorizations of humans do.

Like Trekkies and MGS fans, for example. Even the Trekkies argue over Kirk vs Picard and MGS fans argue over Snake's natural hair color. But plenty of Trekkies also like MGS, and plenty of MGS fans also like Star Trek, and plenty in both camps can agree that Back the the Future is cool. Some Trekkies like one series but not another, some MGS fans hate one particular game, etc.

It's more a statistics thing that this group of people have opinions that can generally be summarized as "likes Star Trek" while this other group has opinions that can be summarized as "likes MGS."
