When its not forced? Especially when that person uses it as their internet to watch Netflix.

Am I missing something? 15gb cant be enough to watch Netflix for a month. Hell, I probably use 100TB a month just in HD YouTube from my high speed.

Are you referring to ISPs or cellphone companies specifically? Also, not everyone will use that amount of data per month so if there's a reduced price to lowering the bandwidth, might as well go for it. Charter right now charges me about $65 a month for either 60 Mbps or 100 Mbps, I forgot. If I can go back down to 30 Mbps and just pay $30-40 a month I'll take that deal but unfortunately they did away with their lower Mbps packages.

As someone who hardly ever goes online using cell phone service and uses Wi-Fi to play games... *Ahem*

Pick up a book.

Many who get Unlimited never need it compared to other plans available. The only way I would ever have justified getting an unlimited data plan is if I was a 4k resolution porn addict on the move.

Turns out I was wrong anyway. They still had unlimited but apparently Verizon throttles you after 15gb when its during high usage hours. No extra billing though.

The text he sent was misleading.

The entire world doesn't revolve around Netflix (though the little girl I watched at the restaurant the other day throwing a fit and screaming on top of her lungs because she had forgotten her tablet to watch Netflix sure made it seem that way). A lot of people are perfectly happy with enough data to watch an occasional quick cat video on youtube and read their emails. Maybe stream a bit of music.

I was in NYC a few weeks back and half of the subway track didn't have data. My commute is the only time I'm not near wifi and use my cellphone for data extensively. Not much time to watch a movie.

t-mobile gave me unlimited a few years back as some kind of promo (even though I only pay for 3gb), and I only went over 3gb once in 3 years. Because I was watching animes before going to sleep during a vacation.

Hell, even on my home connection I rarely went over 100-150gb until very recently (got a new TV. 4K HDR netflix guzzles that data like crazy even though I rarely use it)

I need unlimited. My sister needs unlimited. My mom does. And my brother definitely does. Haha. Without it, we'd be going over all the time...

I work data entry, so I stream a lot of music and podcasts during the day, so, kinda need unlimited data for that.

Who is your provider? Most major streaming services (i.e. Spotify, Pandora, etc.) do not count against the data count depending on the provider. I'm with T-Mobile and they've been doing this for the past few years. Hell, apparently my current data plan qualify for T-Mobile Binge On program so I can also watch YouTube or Netflix without it counting against my data limit.
