I played it for the first time a few months ago. I don't know what kind of tips you want though, sounds like you've played it before? You're already married, or you just mean you want to marry Haley? How far did you get before?

You get rewards for giving the museum new artifacts. The description of a new artifact will say something like the museum can identify it. Afterwards, most duplicates you can sell. Others are sometimes used in quests.

Keep an eye out for two squiggly lines randomly sticking out in the dirt that kinda look like worms. You can dig there and get new artifacts.

Also, you need to divorce Haley and marry Sebastian.

If it isn't given to the museum, sell it in the box by your house. Donating to the museum is the main point of them.

Early in the game, mine progression is super slow. Follow whatever pace seems best. Go there every now and then and fight as many enemies as you can to raise your combat level. Progressing through the mine gets quicker as your character gets stronger. Focus on upgrading your pickaxe, that's honestly the most important tool upgrade.

The story is random af. Basically it's driven by the friendship levels you have with villagers. If you want to marry Haley focus on her right now, nothing else really matters too much.

This is one of the few games where you honestly shouldn't even ask anyone how to play it until you've had a fresh go at it yourself. It's a relaxing game that doesn't rely on you doing stuff on time.

Oh, since you haven't ever gotten very far in the game, I don't want to give away too much. I'll spoiler mark a few things and you can read at your own risk (they aren't really "plot" spoilers, but just stuff that might ruin the surprise).

- Get animals as soon as possible, their products are worth a lot more than crops.
- Save a few of each crop if you don't need to sell stuff right away, since later you can make more seeds from it or use it in recipes
- Do the community center bundles ASAP. I find the greenhouse, minecarts and bus repair to especially be useful.
- Don't worry too much about getting far in the mines right away, beyond getting ore to upgrade essential tools (hoe and watering can don't really need upgrades). You'll have a lot more time to explore them in winter.
- Some fish can only be caught at certain times: a specific season, specific time of day, and when it's raining.
- If you don't know what to gift somebody, people generally like most of the meals that you can cook.
- Give somebody a good gift on their birthday if you want to increase friendship level more.
- Use crappy fish, such as those found on the beach or in crab pots to make fertilizer.
- (later in game) Use sheds to house machines like kegs, preserve jars, mayonnaise, cheese, etc.

Also, it probably goes without saying, but if your health and/or energy are low and you aren't doing anything else that could deplete them, just sleep it off rather than wasting food. Just be aware that if you go to bed too late it won't recover fully. You can stay out till 2 AM before you'll pass out.

Christ, helly, why do you have such bad opinions about nearly everything?

Upgrading the watering can doesn't give you the ability to do something you couldn't do before. Upgrading the axe and pickaxe does. Early in the game with money and ore being precious resources, there's no use spending them on a watering can. Plus he's probably not at a good time to upgrade yet unless he played a lot since making this. TC, if you do upgrade your watering can, do it on day 27 after you've watered.

Yes, but you can still go around and water those manually. It's not like with the logs and stones that can't be broken at all without an upgrade.

Oh, and I guess you could upgrade it in the middle of the month if the weather forecast is rain the next day.

And I mean TBH you don't really need hardwood or fancy ores yet, so I understand the logic, but how much time do you really save watering? Does it make up for the time you have to gather up and smelt ores, visit Clint twice, and get enough money to buy the upgrade?

Yes that's a good one it was my first foray into chibi cows and rice cakes for breakfast myself.

Back to Nature and Magical Melody are also really great HM games. You should try and check those out sometime if you can as well.

Maybe I'll as this to my wishlist and wait for a sale. Thanks guys!

Yeah, you should do that, but I figured that was too obvious to make a tip out of. Maybe slightly less obvious is that you should use fertilizer where you're planting crop types that make up the quality crops bundle. Or pretty much everywhere since sap is pretty easy to get

You have to give people gifts to get hearts (I think). It took me a while to realize that you can't just talk to people all the time and build friendships that way.

Well, I also think you get hearts for giving good answers in the vignettes, but you don't have much control over when those appear.

Talking to people once a day does raise relationship, it's just by a small amount. Also, not talking to people several days in a row will lower relationship.
