The game I believe was for the PS1

The tagline, or at least what they said on the commercials was something like "Save the world and then rebuild it"

And it looked like it combined standard fantasy rpg action with citybuilding or the stagebuilding shit from Tony Hawk at least.

Otherwise it looked like a normal fantasy game.

No idea what it's called and my search yields no results

Amazing game btw, if not dated by today's measure. The sequel was better in almost every way as well, so it's definitely worth playing.

I like the look and feel and story of the first game more, it's darker, but the second one is just miles above it gameplay-wise

I believe this was the game that first brought me to gamefaqs. Looking up weapon chains. Good times.
