It'll be another season without a playoff appearance for the Knicks. The Knicks have won just one playoff series since 2000-01. In that span, almost every other team in the NBA (the Pelicans are the one exception) has won multiple playoff series.

I mean they've been bad since 2001 with only 3 seasons above .500 since then. They only won 1 playoff series, in 2013, in that span.

The franchise is certainly inept, but this year they're intentionally trying to lose.

The problem is that they won a few too many games already for a chance at the top pick. Even if they lose out, the bottom teams still won't get to 24 wins. Best case they can slip into the 4-5 spot. This year's draft is pretty good, so this strategy makes sense.

The knicks have been bad for years because they don't know how to rebuild. isaiah thomas And Scott layden made garbage moves taking on old players past their prime, signing people like Allen Houston to terrible contracts(6 years, 100 million dollars), trading away their first round draft picks for trash. Donnie Walsh rebuilt the team and was doing fine until they traded for Carmelo. With Carmelo, they became a win now team as they put a lot of their chips into him. It worked for a bit. They won about 50 games and won the Atlantic a couple of years ago but it went downhill after that. They brought in Phil Jackson but none of phil's moves ever click neither did the team fully click with Carmelo. Now they are both gone and they are trying to rebuild again.

The knicks are more bad moves but recently they have been more of team with a superstar they couldn't build around and win with. Carmelo just seems to be one of those superstars that can't win.

Because they traded several 1st round picks to other teams and when they did have their 1st round pick they didn't tank well enough. The Carmelo and Bargaini trades really set them back.

The Knicks were 1 pick away from getting Curry in 2009. Had they gotten him, do you think they would have traded him a few years after? Would he have helped turn the franchise around?
