Which is unfortunate, because there are quite a few distros which could easily be daily drivers. I kinda want to get a secondary small laptop just to dick around with niche distros. It wouldn't be my main machine by any means, more just a hobby. Gentoo, Slackware, Source Mage, Alpine, etc.
I've only ever left Ubuntu derivatives once with openSUSE, and that was only because KDE Neon and Kubuntu's implementations of KDE were bug-ridden shitfests.
